As Christians we are called to obedience because of God's love for us - and sometimes this leads us to hard places, but sometimes it leads us to really sweet, joyful, fun places. Kyle and I have both have a strong desire to see our guest room actually filled with guests, not just be a pretty room. We absolutely love it when friends and/or family come to visit. But its something entirely different to have an almost-stranger move in for weeks or months. But with each of the longer-term guests we have we have received far more than we have given.
Geanine moved in at the end of August and left us right after the new year. She is someone we met (briefly) through our church. She took a job with a non-profit in Atlanta that works to fight the sex-trafficking industry around the world - but needed to support raise for her salary before moving. I really can't tell you what a blessing it was to see her fight for faith that God would provide and step out in obedience to move away from Austin and the only church community she had ever really known to something entirely new and on her own. Just, wow.
She was in and out over the holidays visiting her family in the San Antonio area but we were able to have a family night (almost family night - Kyle was working)...and she and I took the kids to Dart Bowl for bowling and Mexican food! :) (One thing I love about Geanine is just how FUN she is - she is about people and she is about fun - if you are familiar with Your Unique Design - she is a Harmonizer/Energizer to the max - so in our house of Achievers - she was such a GIFT.)

The girls both used the squad-push method. Some intense bowlers next to us said that they had never seen a ball go that slow (one of Maggie's balls went 1.74 mph). I was shocked all of their balls made it to the end of the lane each time.
Owen was working on the step-swing-release method but it was more like step-step-step-step-toss-bounce. I think we all need to bowl more often!

The day before her move Kyle helped her get her UHaul all loaded up. And since the kids were having a sleepover with Bee/JoJo that night they loaded her up with hugs and kisses.
Geanine safely made it to Atlanta last night! I've had to catch myself a few times thinking she was probably in her room. We're thankful she has lots of friends and family in and around ATX so we know we'll get to see her again and hopefully soon. Thanks for letting us be part of your journey Geanine - you always have family on 30th St.
