*This is a long post - there are 2 other new ones below it.
Remember Owen getting stung by the scorpion at the ranch? We had an even more interesting encounter with nature this trip. (I realize that if I want to avoid calls to CPS on our kids' behalf I probably shouldn't lead with this part of the story...but I can't help myself!)

Luckily, Kyle is the one who sort of walked up on it. He pinned it's head down with a stick and lopped its head off. (He, Nana, O & R were out prepping an area off one of the jeep trails for a zip line adventure - more on that later - so he happened to have loppers with him.)
This did not diminish Owen's fascination with snakes (but don't worry - he does know it is poisonous - and he knows not to go up to one without Daddy and his loppers.)
The rattle.
Just a boy and his snake.
Okay, now that you're sufficiently freaked out, let's back up a bit.
We went to the Ranch for 2 days (only 1 night - boo) just to get some family time in. Nana was gracious enough to come with us - it's fun (and, let's be honest, it helps our adult-to-kid-ratio)!
The area has gotten a lot of rain in the last few months so it was really beautiful. This view plus a quiet evening with not much by way of noise except crickets reminds Kyle and I sooooo much of Camp. Ahhhhh...
At the ranch, we like to start off our morning with a REAL breakfast.
And then we get dressed. Preferably in camo.
And if you don't have camo - your baby sister's sleep sack will do. Especially if you're going to play on a four-wheeler.
Vroom Vroom.
If you're too little for four-wheelers, you can just hang out inside with Mommy and eat a more leisurely breakfast.
And clap because you know you have an AWESOME Mohawk.
And look at Momma sideways because a change of perspective is always nice.
And then it's probably time to take the golf cart to find the perfect zip line location.
But it needs work...enter daddy and the loppers.
Boys can stay and help.
Girls should probably go for a stroll at the creek and look for pretty flowers (and get eaten by mosquitoes) and play with camera settings...
Perhaps its time to head back for some lunch and a little break from the heat. Made-up game with coasters anyone?
Hat = Toy
My sisters is hilarious.
Yeah...I think all this fun has gotten the best of me. Is it naptime yet?
Why yes, it is.
Crash.
Out like a light. (She was suspiciously quiet.)
And while the girls take their widdle nooze (aka little snooze) the boys can go off and shoot coke cans. (Scarier than the snake, right?)
A little playtime on the porch before we head out for the zip line adventure.
Not a bad way to get around.
Toddler version of Pimp My Ride - complete with juice box.
Ladie's First.
Wee!
After waiting patiently.
Again!!!
Maggie's view - can you see her looking up at Owen's feet?
Thankful for this place and the family memories we're able to make here. It's a lot of work - but well worth it (although next time we'll stay 2 nights).
