The Ranch

One day the week before Christmas Kyle and his mom, Nana, took the kids out to the Llano Ranch. I had a beautiful, quiet, day at home. Everyone had a great time.

Rebecca, our runner, enjoying the wide open spaces.
Even Kyle was surprised how long they played in the (very clean) horse trailer (with the door open, except for this shot). Sort of looks like they're in the slammer!
This day wouldn't have been  possible without Franny. Watching the two of them is definitely a two-man job, and three is better!
Rebecca found a squirrel (or something?) hiding in some bushes.
Just hamming it up around large motorized recreational vehicles. Her own personal jungle gym.
But this was the real reason for the trip. Kyle has been dying to get Owen up in a deer blind with him. This is Uncle Frank's newest one - the Ritz (so big and nice)! I think Kyle said they stayed for about an hour, which is about 7 hours in 3-year old time. Very proud Daddy moment.
Thanks to kid-sized binoculars and a bag of cookies!
Even on a pile of stuff on a chair he has to strain to see out the peep hole. (I'm sure there's a technical hunting name for the window or whatever it is.)
The view. Owen was so excited about what he saw. And he really liked the "deer corn". He brought a couple of pocketfulls home - which we quickly realized was a bad idea because Rebecca wanted to eat it.
We're really blessed to have access to this place! I could send them away every week! :)
