McKinney Falls - hidden Austin gem

I have a neighbor-momma-friend who has a facebook group she uses to organize a fun, kid-friendly field-trip somewhere in central Texas every Friday of the summer. We've missed several but made it to McKinney Falls State Park a few Fridays ago. The funny part is we couldn't find the group until the very end so pretty much had our own little field-trip. This place was is basically in SE Austin - practically still in the city - and I had never been! It is a total hidden gem - like Hamilton Pool but without the crowd. We knew just enough to take swimsuits and a picnic. We did some exploring and found a great little "beach" for our home base.

(These next 3 pics are basically the same, except for Maggie - bless her!)

Watching big bro lead the way in
 Silly faces.
 Silly faces...with sandwhich.

Just splashing around.
They found a big stick or something amazing.
 Yep, amazing big stick.
Maggie, are you pooping? Noooo! Maggie, are you sure you're not pooping? Nooooo, no poopoo.
[3 seconds...]
Momma! Go {= went} poopoo! YEA!
Rebecca's insatiable quest for the perfect sea shell.
And bags of water she wants to take home to do 'speriments with.
The view from our beautiful spot.
Love this little one and her curls.
And this one and her crazy curls.
 Mom!

That's better.
Our crew on the "hike" back. Great place - we'll definitely be back.

Pssssst - I just got a month's worth of photos off of my camera and phone so there are more posts coming soon! Yea for July! Fourth of July, summer camp and counselors, school-year artwork, and our field trip to the Blue Bell Creamery.
