Thanks to Bee, Owen and Rebecca didn't have to forgo swim lessons this summer just because life is crazy with a new baby around. It has been quite the undertaking - twice a week for 5 weeks - Bee has picked them up and schleped them to lessons with Miss Amy at "the J" (Dell Jewish Community Center). (Also thanks to Nana and the Dahdo/Pam Unit for doing reinforcement pool time - frequency is key!)
My motivation was (honestly) just getting them out of the house a little bit, knowing that they'd enjoy some time at the pool. I didn't really expect to see Owen turn in to AQUA BOY!
A couple lessons in, my mom announced that there had been a break through! He went from still being pretty timid to all of a sudden swimming! And when Kyle and I went this past Thursday for their last lesson, we saw it! A-mazing! Thanks so much Bee and Miss Amy!!!
Owen and Miss Amy
Starting the lesson off with the bar bell thingy...face in the water!
Kicking!
Arm Strokes!
Now for a little fun diving for rings on the steps. Totally underwater!!!
Jumping in - ALL the way under! (NO fear!)
HIGH FIVE!
While Owen may have transformed into Aqua Boy, Rebecca took a more laid back approach...It may have been said during one lesson that she was a little bit "IN LA LA LAND". But hey, she's not afraid. She loves the water...and the swimming will come at some point. Probably next summer.
Doing some tummy work.
More interested in Miss Amy's hat.
Figured out she could get the rings without putting her face in. Clever girl.
Gonna blow some bubbles - aka, spit in the water.
HIGH FIVE!
Watchu lookin' at?
