Just a few pictures and stories from May. We have a couple of crazy weeks ahead of us and then, of course, there is BABY GIRL, which could technically come at any time (37 weeks today)...so I figure I should blog while it's still "easy".
Not sure exactly what was going on here. Kyle took this. Owen is in his swimsuit, but Rebecca clearly just got up from her nap...

The post-nap daze.
Thanks to Luke and Mel, we are pool-owners. And yes, they're in their clothes. Well, if you can call a t-shirt and underwear/diaper clothes. Good times.
Mud glorious mud. In Owen's "Boots the Monkey" boots. Her new favorite.
Happy days. He just "dove" in the pool.
Owen's praying is giving us a lot of giggles these days. The other night he thanked God for "giving us food to eat and animals to shoot like deer and hogs that give us meet". And according to a trusted source within our church's kid's program, last week he interjected his thankfulness for "steam trains and diesel trains and tracks for them to go on, and trucks and cars and road and bridges for them to go on" in the middle of a prayer amongst ALL the pre-schoolers. We thought we had been making progress re: interrupting but it looks like there is work yet to be done...Oh, and one more story - Owen is becoming quite the "expert" on all things construction thanks to the "Bob the Builder - On Site" series (specifically, roads, bridges, train tracks, tree-houses, eco-building and recycling). The other day we were talking about things that God has in heaven - because Owen asked - and he asked if there were roads. When I told him that there are in fact roads in heaven and that - get this! - they're paved with GOLD, he quickly and matter of factly informed me that God wouldn't build roads out of gold (how silly!) because roads are made with concrete and asphalt. It was more than funny and a really good teachable moment about how God created EVERYTHING and so he can pretty much do what he wants as far as building materials!
Rebecca's words are coming along. Seems like she's trying to copy us a lot more, which usually just means she repeats a word in a way that gets the intonation right, not necessarily the sounds. But it's so fun to be at this stage with her. And Owen is loving trying to get her to say stuff. She's getting pretty good about recognizing the color blue too.
Favorite new Rebecca-ism. She consistently eats oreos the same way - breaks them apart and licks off/bites off the white middle part. Neither Kyle, Owen nor I eat oreos this way. (Yes, I'm a little embarrassed to admit how commonplace oreos have become in our house during my pregnancy.) This is totally her thing. I love that!
Okay, I'd love to say that in our next post we'll be introducing BABY SISTER, but that's just wishful thinking...3 weeks and counting...
